@everyone it was a quick and simple meeting, but not many were there and these are important things to bring to light.
Staffing Shows:
- When signing up for a show, please note that if you click you are expected to be at the show. To remove yourself from that responsibility, please click the (absence) emoji to actually remove your name from the list. Simply clicking the same emoji you used to sign up will not remove you. Also, as a kindness to the rest of the staff of that show, mention that you're not going to be able to work that show in 🙋-volunteer-chat and also message the person booking or running the show directly.
- If you're not 100% sure you can be at a show, but you want a reminder, you can use the (tentative) (bench) or (late) emoji to sign up instead. Using any of these will add you to any chats or notifications, but you will not be shown as "Signed up"
- On the other side of that, if you are booking/running a show and you find yourself in need of last-minute staff, you can tag @unknown-role or @unknown-role to get the attention of those specific groups to try and get coverage. Don't abuse or people will stop looking at the notifs.
- Lastly, it is fine and well if you want to have @ notifications off for things like Everyone and Here, but I highly suggest you leave notifications on for when someone is tagging you by name. Generally, that only happens when you, specifically, are needed for a question or issue.
Talking about the membership:
- We discussed the membership system a lot before implementing it, but it seems like everyone has their own answer for when someone at the door asks "What's this for?" So, we broke down what the membership is for and would like to create a snappy 1 sentence "script" that can be used at the door.
- Paying the $5 makes you a member of the collective
- Being a member of the collective has the benefit of using and enjoying the space for shows and otherwise. It also has the benefit of being invited to meetings to have your voice heard.
- Those benefits come with the responsibility of following our rules, respecting the space and respecting your fellow collective members.
- That longer explanation can go up on our website and social media platforms, but most people find out about membership at the door.
- Right now most people are saying something to the tune of "Pay $5, don't be an asshole" and that's...not ideal.
- Looking for feedback on this. James and 1010 have stuff they want to give us.
- James is creating a list of things 1010 doesn't need anymore and will send it over
- He's also going to go through our speaker graveyard and see what's worth sending off to repair and what's firewood.
- More on that as it develops
